Snocross Racing Out Of the Back of a Pick Up Truck:Trout Racing
by Scott A. Sumner
RoAnne, Alan and Ryan Trout of Staples MN, spend most of their winter weekends at the race track racing the junior 10 to 13 class. Ryan started doing radar runs at 22 months on a kitty cat and snocross at 4 years old on the Arctic Cat 120. Now he races a 2010 Ski
Doo 550 Fan. “ It is fun to race. I almost broke my arm and have crashed a lot but haven’t got hurt.” said Ryan Trout.
The team have the whole MN regional circuit, 3 nationals and cross country racing on their schedule. It is more or less two weekends off until the end of March if they want to race them all.“ We have to work hard to pay for racing. We have a fish house that sleeps five people which we generally bring when we have to stay over night. We do stay in some motels. This year we have a sponsor for cross country, the Seven Clans Water Park who will help with hotels.
Team Trout operates out of a pick up truck and is starting in the race business. You don’t need to have a huge hauler to enjoy the sport!
